Laura Caitlin Jensen - Singing Lessons

Laura Caitlin Jensen is a highly experienced Vocal Teacher and Professional Vocalist based on the Sunshine Coast. Since graduating with a Bachelor of Popular Music & Performance from JMC Academy in 2011, Laura has spent over 14 years teaching voice across a number of respected schools on the Sunshine Coast, while also building a successful private teaching studio, based in Currimundi.

Throughout her teaching career, Laura has supported students through AMEB and ANZCA examinations, Sunshine Coast Junior Eisteddfod (with students achieving 1st and 2nd places), stage and musical performances, television appearances (Creative Generations), and acceptance into tertiary music degrees at institutions such as WAAPA. Her students have also gone on to secure professional performance opportunities with Disneyland, Universal Studios and cruise lines. Alongside teaching, Laura has enjoyed a 16-year professional performance career, appearing in musical theatre productions such as The Wedding Singer, self-produced stage shows (ROYAL), cover bands (Duology), weddings and private events, major corporate and charity events (including Riverstage, Brisbane City Hall and Cure Brain Cancer), UQ Jazz Big Band, festivals (French Festival, Brisbane Festival), and screen work (Gumtree Australia x Jason Dundas – Getaway). Most recently, she has been engaged as a feature solo vocalist at events across the Sunshine Coast, performing powerful and expressive repertoire spanning artists such as Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and Wicked.

Laura is incredibly passionate about utilising her years of industry experience to mentor aspiring vocalists of all ages, whether they choose to pursue a career in music or simply sing for the pure joy of it. She prides herself on her extensive knowledge of vocal technique, physiology and anatomy, and vocal styles including Contemporary, Musical Theatre and Jazz, and her ability to teach this complex skill in a clear and digestible way for all learning styles and ability levels, from beginner to advanced. Laura places the utmost importance on building strong rapport with every student and creating a safe, supportive learning environment where students feel encouraged to succeed, make mistakes, and challenge themselves to be the best they can be.
