Nathan East is one of the most recorded bass players in history. Nathan's signature bass must deliver tone, versatility and durability across a wide variety of gigs and studio work. This instrument is perfectly suited for bass players working with a wide variety of groups and musical styles. Both the front and back of the bass body are contoured to provide players with a compact, well-fitting instrument that is well balanced and comfortable to play either with a strap or sitting down. The unique BB body is made of maple and alder providing a fat sound with plenty of definition. The neck-through construction on the two-octave maple and mahogany neck is built with an ebony fingerboard inlaid with figured abalone. Matching mother-of-pearl tuners complete the look. The BPZ-7 bridge features individual, machined saddles that provide precise intonation, a low profile, and an elegant look. The stacked Alnico humbuckers run through Yamaha's 5-control active electronics, which feature a custom 3-band EQ with a switchable mid-cut to provide sonic versatility for any situation. Made in Japan includes custom hard case.
Nathan appears on more than two thousand recordings including the iconic "Unplugged" by Eric Clapton. In addition to performing for Pope John Paul II, Queen Elizabeth II, Nelson Mandela and at President Barack Obama's Inauguration Concert, East has been honored by the United States Congress with a Congressional Record awarded for his artistry and contribution to the worldwide music community. Yamaha presented Nathan a Lifetime Achievement Award for more than 30 years of musical excellence with the company including the development of his own Signature Series Bass guitar, the BBNE2. Nathan has recently signed with new label Yamaha Entertainment Group to record his first solo project scheduled for release in fall of 2013. A graduate of University of California in San Diego, Nathan holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Performance & Composition and has started the Nathan East Online School of Electric Bass in partnership with educational ArtistWorks online campus.
