Description

Mooloolaba Music is excited to introduce the Synergy Peavey 6505 Module to our collection, enhancing our offerings with this exceptional piece of gear.

The Peavey 6505, along with its sequels, stands as one of the most recorded and widely used high-gain amplifier heads in the history of music. Originally crafted for a groundbreaking guitarist in Pasadena during the 1970s, its dual channels and precise gain have earned it a special place in the hearts of extreme metal players around the globe. Esteemed producers and engineers like Andy Sneap and Colin Richardson often highlight how seamlessly this amp integrates into a mix. Guitar Player Magazine noted that its contribution to Machine Head’s Burn My Eyes “…defined a generation of guitar tone.” Even today, the Peavey 6505 remains a preferred choice for musicians both on stage and in the studio seeking high-gain sounds.

After two years of dedicated collaboration, the Synergy engineering team has worked meticulously with Peavey to replicate the iconic 6505's tone, feel, and response without compromise. This partnership has given rise to an all-tube preamp module that authentically embodies all the qualities that have made the 6505 a staple in rock and metal music. Whether your aim is to achieve the classic tones the amp was originally crafted for or the modern high-gain characteristics it is known for today, the Peavey 6505 Module delivers on all fronts.

Designed with two identical channels, the Peavey 6505 Module captures the amp's extensive range of overdrive. The Crunch setting in both channels (derived from the Rhythm channel of the original amp) provides everything from a bluesy break-up to a robust hard rock drive. The Lead channel focuses on the amp’s iconic red (Lead) channel, revered for its midrange clarity, powerful low-end, and commanding presence. You can mirror the channels to use one as a lead boost or switch between vintage crunch and thick leads, ensuring you enjoy the real, all-tube tone of the Peavey 6505.

In addition, the Peavey 6505 module is equipped with a three-position switch on the PCB, giving you the ability to adjust the input tube's bass response to align with the original circuit of the chosen module, influencing both feel and tightness. Each amplifier designer has their unique combination of components that shape their input tube circuit. We’ve curated the three most popular combinations for you to access via this switch: USA-voiced modules typically employ setting 1 (1.5K resistor and 22uf capacitor), while British-style modules utilize position 2 (2.7K resistor and .68uf capacitor). The Peavey 6505, along with the Soldano and Vai modules, uses position 3 (1.8K resistor and 1uf capacitor). Naturally, you're encouraged to explore all settings to discover your preferred sound.
