This adjustment provides a distinct physical response and tactile feel that is perfect for guitarists who prefer the extra snap provided by a longer scale, as well as those who frequently utilize drop tunings. The construction of the Les Paul Custom Long Scale features a one-piece mahogany body that incorporates nine-hole weight relief to ensure a lighter feel and a vibrant, resonant character. This base is topped with a two-piece plain maple cap, which introduces additional clarity and definition to complement the inherent warmth and midrange focus of the mahogany. To emphasize its premium standing in the Modern Collection, the body is finished with multi-ply binding along both the top and the back.

The instrument is built with a long-scale mahogany neck shaped into an inviting Modern Medium C profile, which is connected to the body via a long neck tenon to maximize sustain and the transfer of tone. The playing surface consists of a bound ebony fretboard featuring a 12” radius, 22 medium jumbo frets, and elegant mother-of-pearl block inlays. The headstock is adorned with multi-ply binding and holds a Corian nut, Grover kidney-button tuners, and the classic mother-of-pearl Gibson logo paired with a split diamond inlay. Gold-plated hardware rounds out the build, including a Stop Bar tailpiece and a Tune-O-Matic bridge. The electronics package consists of a hand-wired circuit featuring CTS potentiometers, a Switchcraft three-way toggle switch, and a Switchcraft 1/4” output jack, all driving a calibrated pair of humbucker pickups with gold-plated covers: a 490R at the neck and a 498T at the bridge.
