Gibson takes pride in unveiling the latest iteration of its iconic model: the L-00 Century 12-Fret. This update holds onto the beloved features that define the modern L-00 while making a significant modification with a 12-fret neck-to-body connection, in contrast to the usual 14-fret design. The significance of this change lies in the shorter neck and the revised position of the bridge plate, moving it further from the waist of the body and closer to the center’s broadest section. This strategic relocation enhances the guitar's ability to resonate, thereby creating a warm, vibrant tone that responds excellently to the nuances of fingerstyle techniques and softer picking styles, ultimately providing a more comfortable playing experience.

Although not the first model to sport a 12-fret neck, this version indeed stands out since previous iterations were primarily found in the vintage L-00 series from the early 1930s and only sporadically in limited editions, making them notably scarce relative to the more common 14-fret models. Now, the distinctive sound characteristic of a parlor guitar with a 12-fret neck is accessible to everyone through the Gibson L-00 Century 12-Fret. As part of the new Century Collection, commemorating a century of Gibson Flat-Tops, it showcases a mahogany body complemented by a Sitka spruce top, all framed with single-ply cream binding along the edges.

The neck, crafted from mahogany, features a SlimTaper 12-Fret profile designed for effortless playability. This neck smoothly joins the body at the 12th fret using a compound dovetail joint, securely attached with hot hide glue, a hallmark of all Gibson acoustic guitars. On the rosewood fretboard, you will find 19 standard frets embellished with elegant mother-of-pearl dot inlays, enhancing both beauty and functionality.

The headstock comes fitted with open-back Golden Age strap tuners adorned with cream buttons and sports a vintage-style Gibson script logo decal that harkens back to the early 1900s. Another classic element is the sloped rectangle rosewood bridge, closed-slot in design. For optimal performance, the nut and saddle are made from bone, while TUSQ® bridge pins ensure longevity and stability. The L-00 Century 12-Fret is completed with a traditional Gibson L-00-style pickguard and is coated in a hand-sprayed satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish.
