This new version retains the beloved characteristics associated with the J-45, yet it makes a notable change by adopting a 12-fret neck-to-body joint, replacing the traditional 14-fret design. This adjustment not only shortens the neck length but also shifts the bridge plate deeper into the body. As a result, the bridge is now positioned closer to the top's widest section, allowing the soundboard to vibrate more freely. This design leads to a guitar that is both comfortable to play and produces a warm, punchy resonance, particularly excelling in fingerstyle playing and lighter picking techniques.

The mahogany neck is crafted with the renowned SlimTaper profile and features a 12-fret design that connects to the body with a compound dovetail joint, secured with hot hide glue. This craftsmanship adheres to Gibson’s time-honored acoustic construction methods. Accompanying this is a rosewood fretboard, furnished with 19 frets and adorned with understated mother-of-pearl dot inlays, providing both beauty and functionality.

At the top of the instrument, the headstock showcases open-back Golden Age strap tuners, complete with cream buttons, along with a vintage-inspired Gibson script logo decal reminiscent of the early 1900s. The guitar also includes a sloped rectangle closed-slot rosewood bridge, mirroring designs from the original J-45s, adding yet another nod to its rich history. Crafted with a bone nut and saddle, TUSQ bridge pins, and featuring a classic Gibson L-00-style pickguard, this model is finished with a hand-applied satin nitrocellulose lacquer for a touch of elegance.
