Mooloolaba music is thrilled to introduce the Gibson ES-335 50s model, a guitar perfectly suited for players who appreciate a versatile instrument crafted with the modern build quality while embracing the specifications of the classic 50s era guitars. This stunning instrument combines contemporary reliability with timeless style, making it a top choice for serious musicians.
The ES-335 50s captures the essence of the original ES-335 models, first unveiled in 1958. It boasts a semi-hollow, thinline body skillfully constructed from three-ply maple, poplar, and maple, featuring a solid maple centerblock that enhances sustain and significantly minimizes feedback. This model is further enhanced by single-ply cream binding enveloping the top and back, adding a subtle touch of elegance to its overall aesthetic.
True to its heritage, the mahogany neck offers a beefy Rounded C profile that provides a satisfyingly substantial feel in the hand. The bound rosewood fretboard is equipped with 22 medium jumbo frets, each adorned with simple acrylic dot inlays, reflecting the classic look of the original “dot neck” ES-335 models. The headstock is adorned with Vintage Deluxe tuners featuring keystone buttons, and, in combination with the Graph Tech nut, ensures excellent tuning stability. The iconic mother-of-pearl Gibson logo and crown inlay further elevate its classic appeal.
At the other end, the ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge in combination with an aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece contributes to the guitar’s impressive sustain but also offers extensive adjustability for action height and individual string intonation, allowing players to customize their experience.
The ES-335 50s comes alive with the power of a pair of Custombucker pickups, featuring Alnico 3 magnets that are revered for producing the coveted tonal characteristics reminiscent of the highly sought-after Patent Applied For humbucker pickups from the late 1950s. Each pickup is paired with individual hand-wired 500k volume and tone controls, along with a three-way pickup selector toggle switch, ensuring the broad tonal versatility for which the ES-335 is celebrated.
Completing the vintage-inspired look is a ’59-style, five-ply long pickguard, along with gold Top Hat knobs and dial pointers. Available in your choice of Vintage Tobacco Burst, Vintage Natural, and Ebony gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finishes, this guitar also comes with a Gibson hardshell case. The ES-335 50s is the perfect choice for those who appreciate the larger neck profile and aesthetics of the original ES-335 models, which have captivated guitarists for over six decades.
