Exploring the Epiphone Acoustic Guitar Range

Rather Watch than Read? Click Here for the video!

Epiphone's range of guitars is incredibly diverse. After years of producing guitars in their own right, this classic New York company was eventually bought out by a brand we all know and love, Gibson. Drawing on Gibson’s heritage, Epiphone apply it to their affordable range of acoustic guitars creating their own unique style. Epiphone's range frequently uses the same shapes we know and love from Gibson but offers them in timbers such as maple and spruce rather than more expensive options such as mahogany used in Gibson’s instruments. This has little effect on the sound, resulting in a guitar that plays and sounds great at a price everyone can afford. Even better, we have their collection available in-store and online at Mooloolaba Music.

Breaking Down a Few of our Favourites

Epiphone Dove PRO Acoustic-Electric Guitar Vintage Sunburst

The classic Dove style acoustic guitar, which was first introduced in 1962 at the legendary Gibson and Epiphone factory in Kalamazoo, became one of the first acoustic guitars  recognised as a rock and roll icon. Beginners and professionals alike can now enjoy The Dove's classic sound, when plugged in to the FishmanTM SonitoneTM soundhole preamp and FishmanTM SonicoreTM pickup system, both designed and built with the integrity you expect from Epiphone. The Epiphone Dove PRO can easily power an acoustic band when unplugged. When connected, The Dove PRO can compete with drums and electric guitars.

Epiphone Hummingbird Studio Faded Cherryburst

With the new Fishman Sonitone pickup system, the Epiphone Hummingbird guitar brings the legendary folk/rock "Hummingbird" into the twenty-first century.

The square-shouldered Hummingbird, first introduced in 1960, quickly became a classic thanks to Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, who used a Hummingbird for rhythm on early Stones hits like "Satisfaction," "Play With Fire," and "Under My Thumb." There are also numerous classic images of Richards using a Hummingbird during sessions for Exile on Main Street, Goat's Head Soup, and Sticky Fingers. Today, rockers like Noel Gallagher, Sheryl Crow, and Kid Rock turn to the Hummingbird for a rhythm guitar with smooth action and a superb "woody" tone that's full of character.

With its sweet, balanced sound, the Hummingbird Studio Acoustic/Electric can drive an all-acoustic band or be front and centre at a picking party. The Hummingbird can now plug in and hold its own on any size stage thanks to the Fishman Sonitone pickup system.
