By taking inspiration from the design ethos of a legendary digital drum machine from the early 1980s, the Behringer BMX grants you direct access to the signature percussive sounds that defined early hip-hop, synth-pop, and new wave music. At the heart of its sound engine, you will find 8- and 12-bit sampling that remains faithful to the era, successfully recreating the gritty resolution and crushed transients common to that period of digital tech. To round out this architecture, the instrument includes analog lowpass filters that have been carefully modeled after those found in the original vintage hardware.

This eight-voice system allows you to manage each voice individually, with separate control over panning and level, as well as eight discrete analog outputs that provide versatile routing possibilities. The 64-step sequencer is highly capable, offering support for note-repeat, step-repeat, track solo, track mute, real-time triggering, and poly-meter. Furthermore, the built-in effects bus features a dual-mode analog filter and a Wave Designer; both of these can be assigned to individual voices, and you can automate the filter cutoff for added depth.

You can capture expressive performances during live sets or in the studio using the 24 velocity-sensitive pads, which also feature aftertouch. When it comes to managing your work, the device provides storage for as many as 256 patterns and 16 songs, all of which are easy to save, export, or import. Using the multifunction encoder alongside the high-contrast LCD screen makes the process of editing and programming your sounds intuitive and efficient.

Connectivity is robust, offering USB, MIDI, and a variety of sync modes, including internal, Clock, and MIDI options. For any producer who wants to capture the authentic textures of bit-reduced, early-digital drums, the BMX delivers a specialized, technically precise toolset that remains perfectly aligned with the sonic identity of the decade that served as its inspiration.
