Australian Guitars by Aaron Fenech

Australian tonewoods are without doubt a staple at Fenech Guitars and we are proud to have them featured right across our breadth of body styles and configurations. We scour the country side looking for the very best sets we can find suitable for the quality of our guitars and work closely with those whom supply us to ensure we get the very best of what is available seeking mostly highly figured and ‘fiddle back’ sets.

The tonal profile of Australian timbers varies greatly however we tend to find the ones we utilise the most like Blackwood are comparable to mahogany featuring a strong midrange focus which is clear and warm with stunning bright trebles and a richness comparable to that of Indian Rosewood. Other species like Cooba, Mountain Ash, Gidgee, Brigalow and River She oak tend to have a little more power and complexity in the lower mid-range with well-defined bass suited to our unique body shapes.

Our guitars within the Australian series can be paired with a variety of soundboard materials which undergo a hands-on approach to individually thickness and carve internal braces to voice each of the guitars made. Through this process we are able to highlight the very best of the pairing between the soundboard, back and side material and the body size within our range.

Within this series we have opted to use only the very best soundboard material available and have sort out master grade Sitka Spruce, Cedar or Australian Silver Quandong.
