Tonewood Amp

ToneWoodAmp was founded by Ofer and Helene Webman from Phoenix, Arizona.

In 2013, we (Ofer and Helene) found ourselves at a crossroads in life, yearning for something more fulfilling. We craved a change.

Our journey began humbly. Ofer, a devoted acoustic guitar player and a former recording engineer, sought to bridge the gap between the simplicity of acoustic guitar playing and the dynamic effects available to electric guitarists. Thus, the idea for ToneWoodAmp was born!

Ofer was tinkering away in the kitchen, piecing together the first prototype using old pedals parts, Foam from Hobby Lobby, and a whole lot of electrician's tape. Helene, initially puzzled by the bags of supplies, witnessed the transformation of an idea into a tangible product with the help of the newly found electronic engineer, Mr. Bruce Doan. The janky prototype evolved into a functioning prototype.

Summer 2014 was our 1st milestone. To spread the word, we decided to let the product speak for itself. At our very first Summer NAMM trade show in Nashville, Grammy-winning guitarist Larry Mitchell, upon trying the ToneWoodAmp, became our first unwitting advocate, encouraging fellow musicians to experience it firsthand. This organic approach of letting musicians share their amazement became our main marketing strategy, attracting renowned artists like George Benson, Pat Metheny, Kaki King, Al Di Meola, Travis Toy, Vince Gill, Mike Dawes, Andy McKee, and many, many, many more who helped us build a global following.

Winter 2014 was our 2nd milestone. We launched our 1st Kickstarter campaign fueled by videos of these artists using the ToneWoodAmp. We raised $120,000 and began a marathon of development in California and production in Phoenix Arizona.

The first ToneWoodAmp units were shipped by the end of 2015 and to date we've sold over 100,000 units. 

Today, ToneWoodAmp is a testament to our belief in pursuing dreams, no matter the stage of life. Our story is one of resilience, creativity, and the power of music to connect us all. BUT (and this is a very big BUT)....  we couldn't do it without the initial help of the Kickstarter community. We can't thank you enough for getting us on our feet.
