In the scenic foothills of the Ore Mountains, the charming town of Luby—formerly known as Schönbach—holds a significant place in history as the birthplace of both Bohemian and German instrument making. This rich tradition spans over four centuries, nurtured by the region's temperate climate and the protective embrace of surrounding pine and acorn forests, which provided not only a conducive environment but also essential materials for crafting a variety of string instruments. Among those drawn to Schönbach's burgeoning music trade was the Hannabach family, who recognized the wealth of prospects the town offered and chose to settle there.

In 1869, Anton Hannabach took a momentous step by establishing the company “Anton Hannabach, Musikinstrumenten- und Saitenfabrikation” in Eger, Bohemia. Under his guidance, the company began trading high-quality string instruments and, crucially, producing exquisite handmade instrument strings. This legacy continued with Anton's son Karl, who assumed control of the business in 1910. Karl’s marriage to Rosalia Müller blessed the couple with five children, two of whom, Arthur and Adolf, took up the torch to ensure the family’s commitment to craftsmanship endured through generations.
