James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett of Metallica, Zakk Wylde, Tom Morello and David Gilmour have all made EMG pickups central to their signature sounds. The 81 and 85 humbucker combination has become the defining pickup set for high-gain metal, while the 60 and SA single-coils deliver articulate clarity for clean and crunch tones.
