DW Drums & PDP Pacific Drums

The Drummers Choice

DW or Drum Workshop was founded in 1972 as a teaching studio by Don Lombardi and with student John Good kicked off some drum equipment sales to cover the costs.  They soon created the first of many DW products, the height adjustable trap seat and as demand grew and the focus became drum hardware manufacturing.   The next product introduced was the 5000 series nylon stap bass drum pedal and was soon joined be the double bass drum version, the rotating base and cable remote hats stand.  The very first endorsee was none other than Tommy Lee after trying a prototype set.

Decades on and some of the biggest names in drumming are now endorsed by DW and PDP such as Dave Grohl, Joe Morello, Neil Peart, Nick Mason, Carter Beauford, Thomas Lang, Tony Royster Jr, Jason Bonham and so many more.

There are 6 main categories to the DW Drums line up and are as follows

- Collectors Series
Our flagship line of Custom Drums is offered in North American Hard Rock Maple, Select Heartwood Birch, and now Maple/Mahogany. Collector’s Series® is the original American Made custom drum set. Choose from a myriad of state-of-the art California Custom Shop shell configurations and a seemingly endless array of high-end finishes and drum hardware color options to create your very own dream set-up.
- Jazz Series
From straight-ahead Bop, to Big Band, Fusion, Latin, or even Hard Rock, DW Jazz Series® drums provide a warm, tonal spectrum that is studio-friendly and perfectly suited for live applications. Inspired by the American drum sounds of the late 70’s and early 80’s, the Jazz Series shells feature a thick gumwood core that can be combined with maple, mahogany, or cherry inner and outer plies. Jazz shells can also be customized with any available California Custom Shop finish and drum hardware color.
This is how DW does Jazz.
- Classics
Designed to authentically replicate the drums of the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s, DW Classics Series drums feature a Poplar/Mahogany shell with oversized all-maple reinforcement hoops and a soft “butter” bearing edge for a dark, punchy tone. Our goal with Classics was to craft a road-worthy kit with all of today’s professional features, but one that still satisfies even the most diehard vintage fanatics.
- Eco-X Project
An environmentally friendly Bamboo/Birch shell that’s crafted utilizing our latest X-Shell Technology to provide an exceptionally wide tonal spectrum. Eco-X Project offers drummers a green alternative that doesn’t sacrifice sound or quality.
- Performance Series

This is a DW drumset in every way. No detail has been overlooked, no corners have been cut. Its look and sound are decidedly DW. Custom-inspired, with a new Quarter Turret lug, low mass die-cast claw hook, new badge, logo head and your choice of 4 hand-sprayed Specialty Lacquer, a Tobacco Satin Oil, or 4 ultra-durable FinishPly™ finishes, it's designed to get noticed and most importantly, Performance sounds like what you'd expect from DW. Easy to tune, superior sounding HVX shells, along with DW heads by Remo USA, STM™ (Suspension Tom Mounts), True Pitch™ Tuning and DW 45 degree back-cut bearing edges, all make these drums sing.
- Design Series
At DW, behind every great drum set is a great drum set. We've taken our custom drum-making experience and infused it into a professional, quality drum kit that sets a new standard for quality and affordability. Design Series™ is a DW kit through and through. From the newly-designed mini Turret lug, to Remo USA®-made Suede® "outline" logo heads, to a sleek silver and white badge, its looks are fresh and decidedly familiar. Add to that, custom-inspired features such as three durable Specialty Lacquer finishes, STM™ (Suspension Tom Mounts), True-Pitch™ Tuning, MAG throw-off, low-mass die cast claw hooks, and more. Last, but certainly not least, there's the sound. These are thicker shells that pack a punch. Incorporating HVLT™ (Vertical Low Timbre shell with a horizontal outer ply), Design Series™ all-maple shells are full, resonant, and responsive.

As well as these monsters of the drum industry DW also offers the LImited Editions Series, Concept Series and solid line up of Snare Drums.

There is of course the world renown line up of DW hardware that can be broken up into the following series The industry-standard, industry-leading line of 9000 Series hardware is our most popular. Heavy-duty steel constructions means it built to withstand the punishment that long tours can dish out, but it’s a long list of patented innovative features that keeps drummers coming back.  9000 Series pedals are played by the world’s top professionals for a reason; Floating Rotor technology makes then quick and responsive, while the Adjustable Cam makes them versatile enough for any musical environment. A groundbreaking design and DW quality has helped to make 9000 pedals our most sought after pedals today.
  • 7000 Series
Made especially for the working drummer, 7000 Series single-braced hardware is perfect for the weekend trap case.
Included are all the features you’d expect from DW, but without the added weight.
Lighter-gauge tubing and single braced tripod legs are easier to carry, but without sacrificing sturdiness or strength.  A line of no-frills heavy-duty hardware created for every drummer, 5000 Series hardware simply gets the job done in the studio or on stage. Features like integrated memory locks, double-braced tripods and fine-toothed cymbal tilters make them sturdy and drummer-friendly.
Our original pedal has evolved into this, one of the most played pedals ever. An aluminum hex shaft with dual-chain sprocket offers that unmistakable 5000 feel and all-metal construction means that 5000 pedals can last a lifetime.  A range of medium weight hardware to suit varying musical styles.
Light enough for the working drummer, but heavy-duty enough for heavy-hitters.
DW quality and dependability at a price most drummers can afford. DW's entry level line of pedals are designed for students, weekend warriors, and working drummers alike. Trademark DW all-metal construction and playability make the 2000 Series the perfect choice for bargain-savy drummers that want the features of a tried and true USA engineered pedal.

And of course the 2014 release of the Direct Drive DWCPMDD2 Double Bass Drum Pedal
